trans fluid/filter change

hello, i have an 89' lesabre which was my grandmas car for years. well this car only has like 29000 and i mean it, clean smooth miles on it. i know the transmission fluid has never been changed. does age matter? this fluid is now approaching 17 years old. should i have it changed or let it go. the car runs and drives beautifully. thanks for your responses.

Re: trans fluid/filter change

I would reccomend changing the fluid, age does make a difference.

Re: trans fluid/filter change

Might add some of that Slick 50 transmission fluid treatments stuff too. I have always used that stuff and I am yet to have a transmission go bad. I had a Ford Taurus that had 160,000 miles plus on it when I sold it and the transmission had never gone out. I knew a guy that had a Taurus and he had put two transmissions in his. They almost always went bad from what I read.
