Evo beats GT

Since Ive got my Evo I've had a pretty hard time of getting pps to run me... lack of enthusiasim on the ppl I come up to on the road or I just see less cars than I did when I had my GSX. So I was happily suprised today when I went past a Mustang with a cobra emblem on it and he came after me. Yes I said cobra emblem... and a big riced out wing... serious... a mustang should NEVER have one of these big mofo wing's on em. Its just wrong.
Anyway we hapen to nicely line up at a light.. he's on the other side of a middle car.. I wasnt sure if he wanted to go as he did rev or anything.
Light turned green and I feathered it up in 1st but I didnt launch as I was waiting to see if he would go... (seriously wish I had launched cause this would have been over from the start)
half way up the rpm's in 1st he hits it and so do I. I immediately pull up about 1 1/2 cars on him and keeping redline and shifting it up. Into 3rd he is near my door but after that all the way to the top of 4th he was behind me. When I let off at the top of 4th and started to brake he was 2 lengths behind me. I wasnt that suprised as a I had taken a buillt up to 4th but I had seen the lil cobra emblem and... ? 99-02 cobra's im not bothered by... 320hp.. yippy... a 03/04 390hp cobra.. yeah i know im outclassed right now.
So this guy pulls up while were slowing down and suprising he is the first NICE mustang v8 owner ive met in south florida.. he doesnt just cruise by and hide. Anyway first thing I ask 'What year?' He says a 01.. so I was like ok 320 hp then he pipes up and says 'but its a GT.. I just threw on the cobra emblem just cause.' I asked about mods and he says only gears.

Guys... if you have a mustang GT please... dont put a cobra emblem on it.... be happy you spend 7k or so less and could put mods into it. Its just inane. That PLUS the big mofo ricer wing...

So you figure 265 HP on a 01 GT and I beat him by 2 car lengths into the top of 4th. Im only suprised by the pulling in top gears by my car... with NO launch.

Nice kill, i too have seen to many Non-cobra stangs in Arizona. Just a shame that they put badges on them. BUT they are easy pickin's hehehehe. Hey just curious but i thought for '05 Mitsubishi was getting rid of the EVO VIII for the EVO IX ?

Ugg, nothing worse than a fake cobra. I think thats even worse than the rice wing. At least the goofball was nice.

I raced a good bit in my GSX and have seen most of the regular speedy cars go all out so I have a pretty good idea of what I can win/lose to. I am actually disappointed in my Evo only because I came from a project car I had built up pretty nice.. which was significantly faster than the evo. Just trying to save money for mods for the evo atm.

Otherwise when that 390 hp cobra does pull up I KNOW ill be getting passed if Im still stock.

Love the Evo h8 the AWD, three reasons

1. Can't drive AWD (never tried)
2. Somethen about haven to replace your clutch every time you get a good launch doesn't appeal to me.
3. Power train loss.

I think the Evo is an excelent package, power, looks, and grip. I just don't like AWD, don't ask me why i just don't. To each his own.

Its like every mustang owner in the world has seen the domestic rice from Mischief...I swear I've seen three or four riced out, Kangi wearing, GT-R badged Mustangs around here in the past two days...
