99 burb electrical problem

My interior lights started flashing on/off intermittently. I hear a relay under the dash click with each flash. When I push on the rear doors I can get the lights to flash. Is there an easy switch repair/clean on the rear doors? I tried covering the pogo pin contacts on the rear door with electrical tape with no success.

Also, maybe unrelated, the turn signal relay started pulsing without the turn signals actually coming on. I am able to get the pulsing to stop when I push down on the flasher switch on top of the steering column.

I've had the same problem. The shop replaced the relay in the dash. It didn't help. They also replaced the headlight switch, 3 times, it didn't help either. I'm not sure if it's connected or not but now my daytime running lights are out. My tail light went out the other day. I found the bulb didn't blow, it's the actual socket the bulb sits in that went out. Maybe it caused a short in the whole system?? I've been dealing with the interior light thing for a year now. It's very frustrating.

I cleaned the pogo pins on the left rear doors. They were dirty. It seems to have stopped the interior light flashing. I can now put the interior light fuse back in. I have to push the overide button to shut the interior lights off now. I sprayed the turn signal assembly with contact cleaner. That seems to have screwed up a bunch of things. The interior lights stay on. The flasher relay pulses without the light actually going on, the turn signals won't work if i push down on the flasher switch to stop the flasher cycling. I found some Torx wrenches to take off the steering shroud lower cover. I couldn't get the upper cover off since the two bolts had reverse Torx heads (sockets). What a pain.

I think I'll go to the junk yard and get a turn signal assembly.

a lot of the electrical gremlins could be found in the drivers side post between the doors. It appears to happen on the assembly line. A wire is pinched between the drivers door latch bolt and post. Eventually the insulation is wore off and the short occurs. Hope this helps, I found this on my '99 burb.
