Re: wheres the fuel filter?
I'm not sure what year ZJ you have, but my '98 ZJ has a fuel pump located inside the fuel tank.
You should buy a Haynes or Chilton's manual from your local autozone or somewhere, there just good to have! |

Quote:
The filter on the 94 is not located in the tank. It is on the frame, on the driver's side, forward of the tank. The in-tank filter/pump assy wasn't installed until 96 or so.

Re: wheres the fuel filter?
I think the wose thing they did was put it in the tank, my 93 is outside and my 02 and 98-5.9 is in the tank, they say you dont have to clean it in the book, but I would feel better if I could.

Re: wheres the fuel filter?
There is a little bit of a difference in the way the old fuel systems and the new "demand delivery" fuel systems work. The old systems would recycle fuel up to the engine and back to the tank via the pressure regulator if it wasn't used. Now, only fuel that is actually going to be used is pumped through the filter and out of the tank. This makes the filter last much longer...Theoretically as long as the pump.

Re: wheres the fuel filter?
I was able to get a Pontiac 400 from my bud that got it from on down the line, it had never been opened, and by god the fuel pump look and was crusted on like it was the orignal, and just for kicks I put it in the vise and used a pipe on it and it worked, tho I have no idea the pressure it was pushing out, however it was still working.
I know first hand about pumps in the tank idea, they do go bad. It just seems a better Idea to have it on the outside, along with the pump. |

CSF aftermarket, but factory mounts...

Re: wheres the fuel filter?
Thanks for the info, i'm not sure but I think that the place I had my skids put on may have damaged the bottom of my Rad, I was happy to see the 360 and 318 are the same.
Did it bolt right in? any problems at all? |
