ceramic pads and rotors

I am tired of brake dust. So I'm getting ceramic brake pads a like a few of you suggested. But I was told by a mechanic not to do it because ceramic brake pads will chew right through rotors. And I'll have to be replacing rotors alot. You guys that have ceamic pads could you please shed some light on this. Thanks

Re: ceramic pads and rotors

Try carbon metallic. I have those on my car and they stop well have no dust and will last a little longer that ceramics.
And that mechanic doesn't know what he's saying. The problem with ceramics is that to get maximum braking you have to heat the pads up to the proper temperature.
