01 Tiburon Remote Keyless Entry

Does anyone here have a 01 Tib that might have the "factory" keyless entry? That year there was no factory installed alarm/RKE but the dealer could get a Hyundai approved system by DEI and put it in. My 01 has it but I didn't get a remote as I bought the car as salvage and am rebuilding. I really need to know what the remote numbers are on the back.
Thanks a lot

Don't bother. If it is the same "Hyundai Approved" set up that was put in mine, then it is shit. I would personally un install all the wiring and everything and get a new one so you know what was connected, not connected ect. I got mine, and am still trying to figure out the wiring setup cuz the dealership didnt install ALOT of the wiring correctly. The lights dont flash when its locked or unlocked and it's a remote/alarm system, but most the time the alarm wont work unless I open and slam the trunk or a door while its armed.

If you still wanna try and roll with what you got, then lemme know and I will do what I can to help. Just tell me what info you can about your set up.

The DEI piece is awesome. You just have to get the right installer to install it. PM me and I can walk you through the install. I've done tons of them and haven't had any comebacks.

Ponchonutty:
I already have the DEI 710 RKE and it was installed by the Hyundai dealer in 01 when the car was new. I just need to know what model of DEI remote will work with it as I didn't get one when I purchased the car last month.
Hope you can help. Thanks
Mike

Do you know the name that's on the keyless brain? Is it just the part number or does it also say Valet or Automate or something simular? Also, can you get the date code off the back of it? If so, I can tell you what you will need.

On the front it is totally blank. On the back it says "Directed Electronics Inc 710". And it has a listing of all the wire colors and functions. I went to the DEI site and found a Valet 710T model. I think since DEI made this one special for Hyundai, it may be a generic of the Valet. The date code sticker says "OK/1E". Even when opened up, there is no brand like Valet, Hornet, etc. Hope this helps. Thanks,
Mike

Re: 01 Tiburon Remote Keyless Entry

I think I have it narrowed down to 3 part numbers. Let me get ahold of my rep and I'll let you know.

Re: 01 Tiburon Remote Keyless Entry

TA DA!!! You need DEI part number 491t. That is their generic remote part number. You might find someone that has an Automate or Python remote but as long as the base part number is the same, you'll be OK. DEI just changes the remote cases on the remotes for the different lines. It's kinda like a GMC Sonoma and a Chevy S10. They are the same thing, just different in name!

If you still have problems, just let me know. I'll have to look around the shop for those older remotes. I can still order them though.

Re: 01 Tiburon Remote Keyless Entry

Ponchonutty,
You are "THE MAN". My son-in-law has a Viper alarm and bought a 2nd remote for it recently, and it happened to be a 491t. I borrowed it and went through the steps shown on Hyundai Webtech site, and it WORKED!!! Several other people tried to help but they made things hard. All I really needed to know was what you gave me, the model of DEI remote I needed. Thank you so much for your time and effort.
Mike
