OK I recently purchased an 02 honda accord SE .My keyless entry works panic works, all the switches (trunk doors) seem to work, only thing I disconnected the hood switch thinking it might be bad. The alarm has not worked since I bought the car. A story behind the car is it was a lease vehicle. the previous owner(leasee) did put an aftermarket stereo in it (also blew out the dashlights when they do this by cutting the wires, so I had to replace the drivers side multiplex)They put the original stereo/cd/tape deck back in it before returning the car. anyone had this problem with the alarm( it does not blink the lights upon locking the doors or beep the horn to confirm, also the light next to the drivers lock knob for security does not flash, and I have sat in the car with it locked and opened it and no alarm sounded. it does flash the lights when you unlock it.) also has anybody heard of the way to check the multiplex codes to see if it is the problem ? and how do I do that?
thanks in advance for your help |

Re: 02 accord se keyless entry/alarm problem
Well just disconnecting the hood switch won't work. The only way to tell if the hood latch switch is bad is to disconnect the connector on the latch and jump the two wires together. That sends a ground signal to the brain and it tells it the hood is closed. There are also switches on the front door lock cylinders that are prone to breaking if someone trys to jimmy the locks or if the car was in a wreck.
I would jump the hood latch connector wires first and see what happens.

ok
tried to short to ground/connected both together but still nothing. Is there any way to know if the passengers multiplex is at fault? And how can I check the other switches in the door? What should I look for? thnaks in advance again Also is there any way that the system could be in some sort of valet mode? and how do I get it out if it is? |

Re: 02 accord se keyless entry/alarm problem
To be honest with you i would remove the door panels and check the front lock cylinders. See if the switches on them are OK and do the same thing with them as you did with the hood. Make sure that the doors are reading closed. The dome light should be off with the door shut. And check that the waring light on the dash (the picture of the car) is showing all the doors and trunk is shut.
I believe the SE is like the EX were as its a factor installed security. If there is just a light by the D/S lock knob then no there is no valet. If its on the steering column cover than yes it has valet.

Re: 02 accord se keyless entry/alarm problem
the switch is actually connected to the key lock cylinder on the inside of the door. If you take the panel off and look in the door at the handle you will see the lock cylinder and the switch just follow the wires. I believe its a 2 pin connector gray in color.
if you want PM me your Email and i will send you the picture i have in the Svc manual along with the schematics.
