speedometer stopped working

1993 Passat GLX VR6 Instrument cluster stopped working RPM needle is moving erraticly however temp and fuel needles are OK. No milage is showing and there is a ticking noise under dash .Any ideas, Thanks

you might need to resodder the circuit bord. I had that problem with another car.?
