starter question...

OK, 92 talon Tsi 5spd. My problem is that it will start soumetimes no problem and sometimes not at all. Also after being ran for a bit and you shut it off it does not want to start. I pulled it off and took it up to autozone and had them test it and everything checked out a ok. What could be going on? Bad connection mabee? oh and when it has a hard time starting after being ran it kinda stutters and clicks.

Re: starter question...

When you try to start it does it crank and not fire? Please describe all the symptoms. My guess is far fetched, but maybe it's your starter. See if it will start up everytime by kick starting it(Rolling the car in neutral w/ignition on to about 5mph, put into 2nd gear and release clutch). Please don't kick start it in 1st gear, this can mess up timing.

Besides that, the basic checklist for no-start would be as follows

-Check fuel injection system
-Check fuel pump drive control system
-Check power transistor
-Check power to ECU
-Check control relay
-Check fuel injectors
-Ensure fuel pressure is correct
-Check for contaminated fuel
-Check for vacum leaks
-Check for malfunctioning ECU
-Check for open or short in wiring and/or poor connections

Hope that helps you somewhat.

Re: starter question...

Whops what i forgot to add was that i pulled the starter of and took it to autozone. Thats where the problem is with the starter. Other than that car runs perfect. I get weird noises from the starter but they say everything is fine with it. Im thinking it could just be a bad connection somewhere.

Re: starter question...

Where are you located? I have a few spare starters that I'll let go for chunk change.

Re: starter question...
