Does the brake light work while your headlights are on?

If the turn signal/emergancy flashers are working, you could have a problem with the bulb plugs themselves. I had the lights on my old nova go out once while a policeman was right behind me. I turned my signal on and was working till I hit the brakes and "poof", no signal and no running light at all on the left side. Just the turnsignal indecator in the dash burning constantly. Needless to say I got pulled over. Come to find out it was the plugs that you insert the bulbs into. They just went out. Got some plugs from a salvage yard and just spliced them in. But use a test light to make sure the wireing isn't working b4 you just go changing the plugs. Just test the wires and if they are not working properly, use the test light to trace the problem back to the problem.

Re: tail light help

Ok ill try that and now nuthing on the left back side workds but the tail light its self when the headlights are one. It may be the plug because it looks a little scorched on the outside around where the bulb goes. One more thing the steering column moves up and down could that have anything to do with it? I just moves a little up and down not a whole lot.
