Xterra 2000 emission failure CO too high
Hi guys,
I am a newcomer of this forum. I need your help! My xterra 2000(88K) is a nice car but I failed the CO test is very high, can't pass the emission inspection. I have changed the air filter, spark plugs and wires the whole set. Problem still there. Do you have any ideas about the CO problem? Thanks ztxt

Is your "service engine soon" light on?

it's probably an oxygen sensor.

Re: Xterra 2000 emission failure CO too high
today I went to check the oxygen sensor and knock on sensor, the technician said that there is no code for the oxygen sensor, even one of the sensor did not respond the to engine very well. But there is a code for knock on sensor, but the guy told me it was only a minor problem no need to change it.
What shall I do? To change sensor one by one n finally figure out the CO problem? Any suggestions? thanks |

Re: Xterra 2000 emission failure CO too high
Knock sensor is not a problem, as you can see, it isn't even enough to trigger a code on is own, and Nissan's system doesn't even rely on it for normal operation. Look elsewhere.

It's probably your catalytic converter.
