Door Seals

Has anyone ever replaced the door seals that seal thge door to the cab? There are two big seals, one that goes all the way around the door and the other is at the top of the door - almost like a rain guard. I have some crazy loud wind noise if I am driving over 60 or into a head wind. I was thinking of using LMC, but are there others that are as good? I can't take the noise any longer.

Re: Door Seals

For trucks, wind noise is pretty common. But if it's excessive like yours, new weatherstripping (seals) can be put on. Any aftermarket parts supplier like JCWhitney will have seals in stock.

Re: Door Seals

LMC has direct fit, the others are just replacements, not oem.

Re: Door Seals

Does anyone know what the recomended lubricant is for the seals. I mean one you can get at a parts store. The owners manual says use P/N blabla. no clue what that is in laymans terms...

You also may have bad door hinge pins/bushings. My '89 had a terrible wind noise until I put in new bushings. Open the door not quite all the way and try to wiggle it up and down, if it does replace them, before you get into tearing out the seals.

Re: Door Seals

Your truck ever been hit real hard? Might have a misaligned door. Or even improperly installed windshield or back glass. If you are going to replace the seals reagardless, I would stick with only OEM (dealership) or if that's not available atleast OE style/direct replaement (most likely what that LMC product is) But I highly recommend checking your body lines, make sure the gaps look uniform
