Quick Q - "LS" tranny

When people say "LS" tranny, are they just referring to a regular Acura LS trans, will this bolt to a B16a, or is there a special LS - Vtec only transmission?

Thanks!

JOHN

Re: Quick Q - "LS" tranny

any B- Tranny will bolt to any B- engine... same goes for D- F-H ect...

the Specification of LS, B16 S1, j1 ... ect specify the gears in the tranny.

Like an LS is great For FI, when B16 (S1, J1, YS1) would be better for N/A because of the SHorter gears.

the Longer gears allow to stay IN boost longer.

the long gears mean you can actualy stay in gear for more than a second and a half with Forced Induction. it also would allow you to have a higher top speed. not to mention a taller gear will give you a better chance to maintain traction in 2nd & 3rd

if you have ever driven a Force inducted car, it goes thru the gears fast enough as it is... no need to make the any shorter than you have to.

Re: Quick Q - "LS" tranny

if your going so fast that you are topping out 4th gear then you should be on slicks, which would make your tranny longer so with an already long ls tranny it will be too long, the b16 would be perfect.

its all about accerleration, which ever tranny accerlerates the quickest and you top out 4th
