Spark plugs
Heard conflicting stories and am not sure as to which spark plugs to use on my 95 4.3 Blazer.
Should I just go with what the dealer recommends? Thanks, LS |

Re: Spark plugs
Big ditto on BlazerLT's words. Gap to .045 and forget them. If you *must* have a platinum plug, go with AC-Delco Rapidfire Platinums if you do not wish to struggle with plugs for at least 4 years in your engine. However, add a very thin coat of copper anti-seize compound to aid later removal.
Stay away from multi-electrode plugs, like Bosch +2/3/4 platinums, they are not good in '95 ignition systems and the engine tends to hammer the electrode tips loose; leading to serious internal engine damage. However, standard Bosch Super copper w/resistor are fine if you can find them. I prefer them because for the same heat range and thread diameter/reach we need for our blocks, they are a full 1/4" shorter. This REALLY helps if you are not fortunate enough to own a wobble extension to to aid your old plug removal and re-installing new ones without breaking the ceramic insulator. (Curses #3 spark plug placement in his '95 LS) You'll soon figure out what I mean.

Re: Spark plugs
Normal AC Delco plugs will work perfectly, or if you want, you can get Rapidfire #1's on ebay for cheap.
I got a set of 8 for $20US.

Re: Spark plugs
only real suggestion is stay away from the hyped up bs of things such as the bosch 4 way plugs, does no good, a nice HOT plug at .045 gap

So the gap for a 95 is .045. From all the parts sites they say the gap for a 96 is .060, is this correct? or do you guys suggest different. I plan on using the regular AC Delco plugs, what part number are they?

Re: Spark plugs
The plats are not recommended for 1995 and older, only the standard plugs and the rapidfires.
