bolt on top of steering box.

someone told me if i loosen the bolt and tighten the screw in it would
care of the play in the box . is this true. and if so how much do i tighten
it.

Only mess with it if you want to die.

Whomever told you that told you DEAD WRONG.

The "adjsuter nut" is for FACTORY SET UP ONLY, and is NEVER to be adjusted exceprt if the unit is overhauled.

thanks for the info im glad you told me .. in that case can i rebuild it,
or should i just order a new one.

I would get a rebuilt. It is far to easy to have VERY bad things happen with steering.
