A/C & Heater fan function
My 1999 Ford Contour air conditioning was working very good one day as I was driving down the road and then it just shut off. I cannot get the fan to blow a/c or heat. I have no fan functions. I replaced the relays in the engine compartment and checked the fuses under the dash but I still cannot get the fan to blow. I can feel and hear the air conditioning turn on but the fan is not blowing any air. Please respond if you have an idea of how to fix this. Thanks.

Re: A/C & Heater fan function
Check to see that you have power at the fuse with a volt meter. Then check to see you have power at the relay.
here you should refer to a haynes manual or someone more familiar with the relays... but turning the switch on should introduce a ground to the relay. to make sure this is happening, since I don't know which pin... find a known hot... check all the terminals with the relay out, turn the switch on, look for a new ground. After that, I would move to the fan in the dash and see if I have power getting there...

A/C Heater fan inoperative possible answer
I repaired one not to long ago.The switch, the triple resistor, the connector to the resistor, the fan motor and the relay were all replaced before it came to me.I found low amperage to the blower motor and traced it back to the fuse box. There is a dedicated wire coming in the back of the under dash fuse box from the underhood fuse box.For some reason these have a tendency to melt at the connector and turn black with burn.It can also cause a problem with the fan speed switch burning.Push the button to drop the fuse box down. grab it tight and pull it out of its hinge pin holder.Once it is free you can twist it 90 degrees and look at the wire coming in.they are big red ones .One of those connectors has a smaller wire on it with the big red one.If that connector shows signs of burn you have found your problem.I ran an inline fuse around the out side of the box to the fuse inlet (37) from that big red burned wire. This bypasses the burned connector.Solved it and made it safer too.

If a thread is over 3 months old start a new thread rather than resurrrecting an old one. This thread is over 3 years old. It is unlikely you will get an answer.
