03 Honda Odyssey P1491 Code

Forgive my stupidity, but I am just trying to figure out what is wrong with my car and as a female, not get taken for a lot of money when I take it to the shop.

I have a 03 Odyssey with a little over 40,000 miles on it. The malfunction indicator lamp came on with the TCS light every once in a while coming on. I took it to AutoZone and they pulled the code P1491. I see on this forum that the hesitation that my car has done in shifting might also be part of this.

Does it seem like I need what I see on here is a EGR valve replacement and if so, will I be covered under the extension of the warranty to 8yrs/80,000?

The P1491 is an EGR lift code. There is also a bucking sensation that can occur between 30-60 mph. when cruising and lightly stepping on the gas. Replacing the EGR valve will fix both of these problems.

As for Warrenty. For cars bought in california the warr. is 3 yrs or 50k miles. The rest of the US its 3 yrs or 36k miles whichever comes first. If you have Honda Care its also covered as long as your contract is still active

Honda care is the name of the extended warrenty company that is offered by Honda.

I have the same problem with my 03. They do have the recall on this issue and you should have got the letter in the mail. Up to 5yr/80k. If not contact your dealer. My EGR is on backorder.

Its not a RECALL its an emissions extension.
