Passport oil pressure

My 97 passport, Reads only 30 psi's all the time, is this normal??

My Elantra has an aftermaket one and reads over 60 psi

Personally, I'd be a bit nervous if mine stayed at 30 all the time.

Does your's fluctuate at all? 30psi at idle's not bad at all, but it should come up when under load.

What kind of oil/filter are you running, and what viscosity?

Also, what's been your frequency in oil changes?

Sometimes the pick-up screens tend to get clogged up, causing low oil pressure; but I believe this tends to only happen on extended drain intervals or neglected engines.

FWIW, I'm running 10w-30 Havoline (regular oil), with an Isuzu OEM filter, at 3K mile intervals. My psi at idle is 50-60, at 2,500 RPM's it's around 80-85.

Also there are certain oil filters out there that are notorious for giving off low pressure and it may have nothing to do with the truck itself. Fram is one of those filters, and just happens to be the one commonly used.

That maybe why, Fram!! Other rhen that I change the oil every 3k and use 10-30.

I have a 94 Rodeo 3.2 and it always reads around 30 but if you look closely at the gauge it says to multiply the pressure by 2!
