2005 vs. 2002 4.2L

Well, even though I can't stand the piston slap and other noises from the 2002 4.2L my wife still loves it and we're considering a direct replacement with a 2005. Does anyone have knowledge of what engine improvements have been made? Is the 'knock' at idle gone? Thanks!

No, for me.

2005 LS, out of the plant on 10/2004.

i know it is a late post but on our 2003 it dosnt knock and the 2002 had 270 HP and 2003-2005 has 275..(and trust me it dose make a difference).
