shifting problem

I just bought a 1995 grand prix SE with a 3.1. The car has 93,000 miles on it and has a problem when accelerating out of 2nd gear. It doesn't shift hard either up or down it just seems to have no power after leaving 1st gear it sorta just gradually accelerates even if you jump on the gas the tach will go way up even to 5000+ . Like I said there are no hard shifts or sudden jerks just no power until it finally shifts to 3rd gear then everything is fine from there. When I stomp on the gas from OD it downshifts smoothly and reacts normally but again if it shifts into second the problem happens again where there is no power to the wheels until it shifts back up again. I've read almost all the posts on this site and they all the trans problems listed seem to deal with hard shifting or no shifting but I haven't seen anything close to my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
