Mustang GT

Ok today afterschool I went down the usual road and I see this white 2000+ Mustang coming up behind me fast and he switches lane and goes pass me. Funny thing happens the light turns red and two lanes, one for me and one for him. I'm behind him so I decide to go to the next lane but he does that so I'm at the line next to him. I ask my brother should I go for it he says F**k him up for thinkin hes fast. So we give each other the glance and I put my car in Nutruel and revv it but the guy doesn't revv back. So when the light turns green I put it back in drive and he starts to push it alittle and I do the same, the speed limit is 50 and were doin 45 and all of a sudden I hear him floor it and I hear his V8 engine roar so I do the same. Were at 65 mile and it's a tie so we slow down and he tries that little stunt again but this time I'm prepared and I floor it as soon as he tries to pass, I pull on him the whole time, I'm goin 95 and hes like 4or5 car lenths behind me. And I put my hazards on.

Then were at a stop light again and this time I have to turn and hes goin straight. I expect him to do the ricer fly by but he just looks straight and goes his way.

Oh if I race a 1995 Integra LS stick, I/H/E will I lose. I'm racin him with the Base ATX. But if I do lose I'm bringing the SL.

Re: Re: Mustang GT

Agreed it wasnt a GT. 99+ GT's are 13 second cars. Heck auto 99 Gt's are low low 14 second cars. And about the Teg, a SOHC ATX will be anialated by a MTX teg. The Teg runs low 16's stock and with I/H/E is most likely in the mid to high 15's. Your SOHC ATX runs 17's. No chance.

uhhh....99+ GT's are mid 14 second cars...the Cobra is in the 13's. It had to have been a GT b/c if it was the V6 it would've been blown away completely. Good kill, if you had run him from the stop you would have been beat, but from a roll you should have and did win. Race the teg in your SL, you'll win...throw your base in the trash! .

Oh yeah I just found out that my brother told me the guy push it to about 15+ mph but I guess he got scared and thought we were the VR4 so he stopped. But yes it was a Mustang GT. 35yr old man and older I think but it said GT and the Dual stock exhuast. So yes it was definetly GT.

I don't think my car runs 17 because I lost to a stock 01 Integra GSR by like 2 1/2 to 3 car lenths. So I don't think I run 17 maybe for a Stealth or a poor driver but not my 3000.
Sorry

Re: Mustang GT

The stealth is the same as your 97...you have an auto SOHC, you both run 17s....

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Mustang GT

Yeah SOHC ATX is 17's, DOHC ATX is 16's, SOHC MTX is 16's, and DOHC MTX is 15's (14's w/ a pro) as far as I understand it.

Re: Mustang GT

not stock they don't. Best stock I've heard was 14.9 Stock they are mid 15s, with bolt ons, lower into the 14s are possible.

Thats about it. I ran a low low low 16 (a 16.02 to be exact) when I was still stock. So SOHC's are capable of hitting a very high 15 stock, but you need to be a great driver with a car in great shape to do that.

And I highly doubt you only lost to a GSR by 3 car lengths. They are a low 15 car when stock. They will beat MTX DOHC's stock for stock inb most instances.

I don't want to start anything but have you VR4 owners ever owned a Base.
I'm sure my car runs low 16s and high 15s. If you think a Base GT run 17s then you have no respect for the 3000GT.

The only way to know for sure is to take it to a track and make a few runs. I still have yet to do that with my SL.

No I havn't owned one, but I work at a dealership and have driven dozens upon dozens of pretty much all varieties of stealths and 3000s. I have alot of respect for the 3000gt, but (no disrespect meant), the ATX SOHC was/is the bottom of the ladder. The car still looks sexy as all hell, but I think you are overestimating them. The ATX DOHC 3Ss run high 15s and they have 222hp compared to your 161...that is a pretty big difference.

And I just want to clarify what you mean by this...you do know that the Stealth is the EXACT same car as your 3000gt right? So if you can concede that they can run 17s...why not YOUR 3000gt?

Not trying to be a prick, I'm simply saying that I think you are a bit biased in defending your own car. Which is understandable....Everyone does it. I simply don't argree with you is all...

I OWN A BASE. I know my MTX base ran a 16.02 STOCK. I also KNOW that ATX SOHC's are 17 second cars, period. The ATX sucks up so much power its ridiculous. Its not about respect, its about knowing what the cars run. With the mods to your SOHC you MIGHT (might being the key word) run a 16.9. Also as Igovert500 said base Stealth = base(SOHC) 3000gt. If anything a base Stealth might end up being quicker than a SOHC 3000gt because it wont have the chance of having leather or some of the other options the SOHC 3000gt would have meaning it will weigh less than the 3000.
