JDM Motor swap/no power
95 1 L 5 speed-My original motor lost compression in #3 cyl and broke the timing belt when it stopped. I bought a JDM motor from a co. in New York. I swapped more than I really wanted to (stupid swift square cogs on the timing gears). I did a full tune up, cap, rotor, bosch platinum plugs, plug wires. When all was said and done (anyone else have to force engine and tranny to mate up) I have very poor throttle response and it seems to be running a tic hot. I can't find any vacuum leaks, anyone have any other ideas?

I have never had to force the engine and tranny together. I do know that the clutch must be perfectly centered. The little plastic alignment tool furnished with the clutch kit has to much slop in it. This may be why you had to use force to mate the two. As far as throttle response goes, have you done a compression check on the engine? I also switched all temperature components from my old engine... fan switch, temp. sender, new thermostat(make sure bleed hole is mounted on top). Interesting I did the boiling water test on the three thermostats I have and found that the aftermarket thermostat opened sooner than the OEM thermostat. About 10 degrees before. Best of luck Joe |

check your map sensor i had to rev mine up till i realised i hooked up the wrong vacuum line
