DSM questions

I wasn't really sure where to post this, but I know the DSM family are common drift cars, so I figuired I'd throw it under drifting. I've always kind of been left in the dark about DSM.

What exactly does DSM stand for?

What car models / years are in the DSM family?

The only ones I know of are the eclipse, 3000gt, eagle talon, and the stealth/avenger.

Is DSM the platform that was used on all these cars or what?

Thanks guys.

Re: DSM questions

plus dsm doesn't ahve anything to do with drifting, i dont recall ever seeing one dsm ever drifting at all, plus the dsm forums/eclispe forums, whichever ones they are, would be better for your answers than here.

first off the laser wasnt continued after 94, 2nd off they can be drift cars they just tend not to since they are awd and fwd....i would venture to bet a nicely swapped rwd on a gsx...such as full drivetrain and engine swap(like an sr or something) would drift quite well.

Re: DSM questions

o i know they could be, and i think you really should be the one to make a rwd gsx, except i dont know half of me is also against that because you could just go out and get a rwd car that has been proven in drifting already, the point of drifting isn't to get the weirdest car, its to have fun.

Re: DSM questions

Well thanks you guys have answered my main question, and I found a site dedicated to DSM that tells me every damn thing I could ever want to know about DSM.

One more question though, what is FR in reference to imports? Like I think I"ve heard it used as "FR cars" or something to the extent. Thanks.

The only DSM's that are commonly used as drift cars are the oft-forgotten (by the current import crowd) Mitsubishi Starion/Chrysler Conquest pair.

The "Starquests", as they're nicknamed, were a pair of front engine, rear wheel drive, coupes powered by twin cam turbo fours. They were known for being nimble with a tendency to snap loose on an unsuspecting driver.

They also looked more than a little like a Porsche 944 on methamphetamines.
