carb trouble
I'm having alot of trouble with my carbeurator on my 86 monte SS I just rebuilt it and bolted it on and it runs alot worse then when it wasnt rebuilt, it runs too lean and cuts out completely when I first start it up and try to move it, secondly my choke is screwed up too, its getting juice to it cuz its an electric choke but it wont stop choking and it doesnt idle down after you engage it...please help!! jake

did u put it in a soak tank and have it blown out, and also...the needles need to be turned out so man turns etc , i am thinking you messed up the metering rods and put them in the wrong spots...i've rebuilt many quadrajets...every time i have done them they have run 30x better

I'm just in the midst of the same choke problem on my 81; my choke gets the charge if I bypass the connector and wire but the actual wire won't carry the charge. (Make sure the key is ON to test this!) So I'll I'm doing is tying into the ignition wire running to the altenator and putting in an in-line fuse...if your car hasn't been rewired since factory then this is likely your problem if this isn't your problem I'd suggest loosening off the choke cover on the side b/c I did and it seemed to break the stuck-ness of the choke so it would close. |
