Re: Tach

damn nice whorage on this thread, but ill try to help jim out. lol i dunno if the nams jim just thought it would add a kick to my instructions. ok well jim there should be an igniton wire somewhere on the engine thats probably red (telling you from doing it on my bros elcamino wit a carbed 305 so it might be useless) with like silver stripes maybe and it should connect to a spot on the carb (if you have one) you splice that wire so it conects to itself and to the tach wire that goes to there and there might be 2 other wires on the tach that go to positive and negative. umm thats pretty much it. if that dosnt help at all search online for instructions or wait for someone to tell you something better. actually crap i think the wire was on the distributer and the distributer will have the "ignition" labeled and you just connect the tach wire to that wire. it should plug into the disributer on the side. and im not sure but i think that wire goes to the carb but thats a guess from memory. but hope that helps.

Re: Tach

you will only have a wire on the carb if you have an electirc choke on it (probably a black circular thing on the passenger side of the carb). you need to connect three wires... i think only one is necessary: the tach wire. the tach wire is connected to the distributor and it sends the signal of how many revs your are doing. on most camaros this wire is white. if you don't have a white wire... it probably the one that is not black or red (there should only be a couple of wires on the distributor), maybe yellow. if you want to pull your instrument cluster out, the wire that goes to the original tach should be the same thing. the other to connections are for the power. one is a ground connection and the other is a accessory connection, this goes to a wire that is only hot when the car/ignition is turned on. you could connect this to the positive terminal of the battery (a red wire) but the light on the tach would be on all the time. i think the easiest way is to connect the ground and the acc to the wires on your radio. ground is black and acc (i believe) is orange. if you have an amp in your trunk, the acc wire is the same as the blue wire that runs to your amp.
