Angry AC problem

Chevrolet Astro 96. When i select AC it blows hot air, so I charged the freon. Stil nothing. So I jump the low pressure switch to get the compressor running. The compressor running but stil hot air. When I connect the low pressure switch comressor running for few seconds and stops. The pressure was high and compressor starts and goes to low and commpressor stops. High pressure Low - high - low... . The air was still hot. Where is the problem? In Chicago is Right now wery hot so please for fast answer. Thank You

Re: AC problem

As I understand, the compressor wouldn't run until you put some freon in. Then it started to cycle on / off.
My A/C was cycling. I read that that is a sign of low freon. As I added more freon, the "on" time got longer, until, when the guage said i had enough, the compressor ran all the time.
Hope that helps.
BTW: I've read to wear safety glasses when handling freon. It seems like overkill, but the freon is VERY bad on the eyes if you screw up.
