1991 Grand Am, Vin U firing order?
Hello All,
First message to the site - so I hope I'm doing this right. I have a '91 pontiac Grand Am, 2.5, Vin U, 2 door, automatic. I just changed the plugs & the firing order is different than that stated in the owners manual ( the glove box book). It was 1-4-3-2 from the old arrangement that I kept when I replaced the plugs. The book says 1-3-4-2. I set the wires to that arrangement - at the coil & the car wouldn't start Anybody know which it should be? And, looking at the coil from under the car - which is the order of the coil tips? 1 at the bottom, running up to 4 at the top? Thanks, Paul |

Re: 1991 Grand Am, Vin U firing order?
Welcome to the forum. The quad 4 fires the 2 outer cylinders first, then the 2 inner ones. So the firing sequence would be the 1st one - 1 & 4, 3 & 2. I'm not sure about the coil tip order. Someone else will know.

The firing order on the 2.5 is 1-3-4-2, and pin #1 on the distributor is to the right of the bottom pin. Hope it helps you.

No problem Paul. There's a lot of quad four guys around here that should post up soon about the cap orders.
