Air brakes
I'm having a problem with my brakes. When I press on the pedal, I get what can best be described as the sound of air brakes on an 18 wheeler. Even when in park. The brakes are VERY firm. I have checked the brake fluid level and it is full. There are no leaks in the lines as far as I can tell. No drips, puddles, or any indecation of a leak. I don't know if it's a brake caliper, the master cylinder, the booster, or what else could cause my problem. There are no warning lights on in my dash at all. Anyone got any ideas? I don't want to spend the money to replace things that are not broken.

Sounds like the power booster took a crap to me, judging by your description of the air/vacuum sound and the very hard pedal.

Re: Air brakes
If you hear a shhht noise when you press the brakes, this is normal.
