electrical ?

OK, so simultaneously, my mom's car is having issues, so for the next few hours I don't have a ride to any autoparts store to get a multimeter.

My plenum is off, I have the troubled injector located and it's harness disconnected. Now somebody correct me if I am wrong here

Being that the problem either lies with the circuit being grounded out somewhere...or the injector. At this point, I'd like to rule out the harness. Can I simply take a small light bulb...from my boost gauge, and hook it to two small wires. And then connect the 2 wires to the injector harness? If the car key is in the 'ON' position...and all the wiring is still intact, shouldn't I get the bulb to light up if the wiring is not at fault...and this would eliminate everything except a faulty injector...right?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...please.

Re: electrical ?

if the bulb lights up when you turn the key to the on position then the circuit is bad. There should be no power at the injector unless it is spraying fuel. I would hook a multimeter between the 2 instead of the bulb incase the cicuit isnt powerful enough to light the bulb.

Re: electrical ?

Dammit you're right, my logic was reversed. This sucks.
Ok, so assuming I get the multimeter in teh next hour or so. What am I doing? I just hook it up to the 2 prongs in the harness and look for what?
Then I hook it up to the two prongs in the injector and look for 2-3 ohms...right?

Re: electrical ?

yse your injector should be around 2-3 ohms of resistance. I would check that first.

If that checks out you could turn the key on so you get fuel presure, then turn it back off. Now run 12 volts and ground the injector and you should hear fuel spray into the cylinder.

Also check for 12 volts on the curcuit when the key is just on the "on" position.

I still think the easyest way to check the injector would be to swap the injector with another one and see if the "bad injector circuit" moves with the injector.

Re: electrical ?

Should the battery be connected or disconnected when I'm testing? And should the key be in the ignition or not?

Re: electrical ?

Nevermind, ok, so I just tested the #4 and the #2. Both injectors when disconnected from the harness gave the same ohm readings '0'. However, with the battery connected, key on 'ON', the #2 harness showed no voltage, the #4 gave a reading of something like 12volts.

So am I doing this right? Can I deduce that somewhere along the wiring there is a ground?
