2004 srt4 with a problem...HELP!

Hey! I have a question...I have an Apex'i turbo timer installed in my srt4 and ive had it for about 1.5 mths now. in the last 2 days, my car has been "jumping" in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, almost like i'm just learning how to drive a stick and when it idols, it goes from like 750 rpm to 1300 down to 500 back up to 1000......it has 16,700 miles on it and im the only owner. i haven't driver her hard and the wierd thing is is that when i get on her to go, it doens't drive bad.....i dont know what it could possibly be. its not fuel related, and i disconnected the ground wire for my turbo timer and it's still acting up.....any thoughts?????

The RPM's jumping could be a electrical gremlin lurking in the engine. Bad grounds, exposed wires, maybe even check the spark plugs and wires. I doubt it's the plugs or wires, being so new, but you never know.

Re: 2004 srt4 with a problem...HELP!

its your TPS. on the throttle body, there are several wires connected. jiggle those and it will do the same thing. it is very common at around 10,000 miles. everythign settles and starts having problems. take it into the dealership and you will be fine. they will replace the sensors and you will be back on the road in a day

OKAY, SO MY TURBO TIMER IS UNGROUNDED, BUT THE WIRES ARE STILL CONNECTED TO THE O2 SENSOR. THAT MEANS THAT IT'S TECHNICALLY NOT WORKING, BUT, IF IT WAS THE O2 SENSOR, WOULDN'T MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BE ON? I WAS DRIVING IT YESTERDAY AND IT CUT OFF ON ME!! I DONT' KNOW WHATS WRONG, BUT IM GETTIN MAD!! WHAT DO YOU THINK NOW?

first thing. never wire anything to your first o2 sensor, plumb it to your downstream one, the first might cause an error in the computer (all it will do is throw an engine light). if its pluged into your primary o2 sensor, disconnect it and plug it into the second one. then take it down, i still am willing to bet its your TPS

Okay---so the secondary o2 sensor is the one under the airbox right? cuz if so, that's the one it's hooked up to. I took my car to the dealership this morning and told them that I was told it would be the TPS that's going bad, so I'll let you know later on today what they told me. What all have you done to your SRT-4? I'm kinda interested to know

okay, so the dealership said my "rev-limiter" has been disconnected. what the hell? i dont even know what a rev limiter is!!! and they also told me that the turbo timer can void my warranty. is that true considering it's not really hooked up to anything warranty-able? damn this sucks

Re: 2004 srt4 with a problem...HELP!

the TT can not void your warranty, plain and simple. if they tell you that, they are lying to you. and if they do, its breaking the law.

the secondary o2 housing is located after your catalytic converter in your exhaust pipe. thats where you want to plumb it.

there is no way, on the srt4, to disconnect your revlimiter. in fact, if there was, i would love to know how to do it. i need 500-1000 more rpm to play with!!! and i know i wouldnt be the only one interested. your dealership is lying to you. ask them how you removed it? i really want to know

my srt is pretty basic: stage 3 coilovers, hotchkis swaybars, dcsport strut bars, prothane bushings everywhere, mopar short throw shifter, wilwood big brake kit on the front, powerslot rotors on back with hawk pads, 18" ICW bronze wheels w/ 235/40/18 tires, AEM intake, custom 3" turbo back exhaust, mopar stage 1 computer, mopar blow off valve, crane cams, fidanza cam gears, greddy turbo timer.

and im waiting on a couple of things, including a big intercooler, custom clutch w/ lighten flywheel, and stage 3 turbo assembly to be used with AEM EMS computer system

How in the world can they say that? I have never heard of anything or anyone disconnecting their rev limiter. I guess there would be a first time for anything, but that does not sound right at all.

Re: Re: 2004 srt4 with a problem...HELP!

so youre saying that the dealership is full of crap? wow......didnt see that one coming! i'll be sure to ask them how "i" removed the rev limiter. and when they tell me, ill let you know! when i picked my car up yesterday, they told me again bout the rev limiter and a mechanic was standing next to me listening to my problems. then he told me that the spark plugs and wires needed to be changed. he said that would fix my problem. that kinda pisses me off considering the car has 16,800 miles on it! shes freakin new.....y the hell would i need to change the plugs and wires already? i think the dealership is full of shit and i think that they are sheisty sob's. .... how is telling me the tt voiding my warrany is against the law? id like to throw that back in their face if you can get me some proof!! ....oh also, i disconnected the ground wire to my tt a few days ago right? and the dealership told me that when they were running the diagnostics on my car, when they "disconnected" the tt, the car ran fine and when they "connected" it back together, it ran like shit. i caught them in a bold face lie cuz I DISCONNECTED THE GROUND WIRE!! they looked me in the eyes and told me that the tt was screwin up my car and that they were the ones that disconnected it. damn they suck! the dealership also told me that they ran tests on ALL my sensors and the TPS, O2, and all that other good stuff was FINE. they said nothing went wrong with my sensors. they swear up and down i disconnected the revlimiter. i still think thats funny..... not really though!

Re: 2004 srt4 with a problem...HELP!

its typical for the car to go through plugs and wires every 20,000 miles.

get them to put it in writting what the problem is. then you have proof and can go from there. i hate the dealership, always have. infact, my local one asks me to leave whenever i pull up. they have told me not to come back, but until my warranty is up, they cant get rid of me. get it in writting. where are you located? what dealership is giving you a hard time. if you need someoen to go down there with you, get onto srtforums.com and post there. someone will go down with you and help you out

Re: 2004 srt4 with a problem...HELP!

The Magnuson vs. Moss act relates to the voiding of warranties. It states that you can pretty much do anything to your car and unless what you did or how it was done HAS been proven to cause what ever new problem you have, they can't make your warranty claim conditional unless they can provide an OEM part that's the same or equal to the aftermarket item in question. So, the next time you speak to them, tell them you read up on the Magnuson vs. Moss act that give you the right to press federal charges if they continue to make your warranty claims conditional.

BTW, I was just trying out a left over '04 srt4. This things don't sell well. Got them down to $19500 and it's only got 170 miles on it (80 of them are mine!). I just don't like the red color. Also, hate to give up 4x4 but maybe the MPG can make that change.

hey--i appreciate your help! i'll be sure to tell them to kiss my ass if they decide to void my warranty!! anyway---i live in greenville, sc....the dealership where i bought the car is big 'o' dodge of greenville on the motor mile.....so if there is anyone reading this that lives in greenville, sc.....let me know so we can go there together and bitch them out! i should be getting my spark plugs and wires in from the dealership here soon...so hopefully that will solve my problem....if it persists, im going to stick with the TPS!!! and also, when i take my car back to the dealership so they can change the spark plugs and wires, im going to have them play bill nye the science guy and teach me about this rev-limiter and show me how "i" disconnected the damn thing!!!
