Complete: Opel Monza 1:87

I have been building lately on different scales... I was working during the weekend in scales 1:87, 1:32 and 1:12... The models in scales 1:87 ja 1:32 were quick to finish, especially the 1:32 Revell snapkit Astra DTM.

I don't know if there are any smaller plastic models around...

looks nice. is that smaller then a Matchbox car? i am actually really excited myself as i bought my first 1/32 scale model. its an Auto Union Type D and looks to be a quick but detailed little build. ill have to start looking into other scales myself. i didnt know they made such small kits.

The model is made by a German company called Wiking and it's very old. I found this from an old model railroad shop in Stockholm, Sweden, but I also saw one of these in Tampere, Finland in a shop which sells diecast cars and lots of 1:87 scale plastic cars. It is meant originally to be used a part of model railroad diodrama, as the 1:87 scale is very common on model railroads (also called H0). The car is sold as already assembled, the molding of the plastic is very accurate, but it needed painting. The accuracy of the model is much better than any toy cars, but so is the price as well... I paid 125 Swedish krona (about €14 or $18) for this one...

The size is smaller than the "matchbox" toy cars, which are approximately from 1:64 to 1:72 scale.

There are couple of companies (German) which make this kind of plastic model cars, like Wiking and Herpa. The aftermarket 1:87 wheels are made by Herpa.
