2000 3.5 V6 Help - UPDATE

Cracked head at cyl #3 at only 37K mi. It's out of warranty so a local shop with a very good rep replaced the head. They had some problem setting timing until they found the TSB on timing belt. BUT, now it has a flashing CEL, code is mis-fire cyl #4 - lean (not the replaced head, the other side they didn't touch). Also Random Mis-fire code at times.

They reset the timing belt numerous times, swapped plug, coil, and even injector between cylinders but error stays at #4.

They're at their wits end, anyone have an idea ?

Thanks.

Re: 2000 3.5 V6 Help

could be a crack intake manifold gasket. this will give a misfire code and it very common. See the FAQ's for more info.

Did they replace the spark plugs? If so, what brand did they use? Non-denso spark plugs will give you a flashing (misfire) CEL on the 2000+ 3.2/3.5's
G/luck

2000 3.5 V6 Help - UPDATE

Update

Long story short, the coil assy on cyl #6 is slightly different from cyl 1-5. Cyl 6 coil ended up on another cyl during re-assy of engine. Specific cyl misfires don't get logged, only show up while driving, so it was missed until he took it for a drive with the scanner on, instead of reading the codes afterwards.
