Is there a difference between "the brain," and "the mind"?

the brain is an organ inside your head, the mind is an intangible concept that is the result of the chemical reactions in your brain. In short, yes.

Re: brain vs mind

Technically, the brain "thinks", but the word "mind" is used to describe the characteristics of or processes by which "thinking" occurs. I don't think they can be used comparitively since the brain is tangible and the mind is not.

Your thought processes = your train of thought,

charachteristics of = What you think

I agree completely with ec437, They are seperate, the brain can be held, the mind cannot...

Re: brain vs mind

Brain, as stated, is the physical organ which contains electrical impulses and chemical reactions.

Mind is the consciousness granted by the sum of these physical processes.

It's mind over matter. - if you don't mind, it don't matter.
