help fixing 1979 impala

I recently baught a 1979 impala with a 350 intercepter in it, but it needs a new starter batery and posibly a little wireing and the suspension is bad. Because of the suspension problem I can not get under the car to replace the starter I was wondering how I might be able to find the starter from above or If I was just looking in the wrong places for it underneath. any and all help greatly apritiated
