Black box located in trunk..

Alright, I'm having a custom stereo system installed into my car in the next couple days. The system will fill the whole trunk, and I need all the space i can get for it to fit. I noticed the little black box mounted in the trunk with all the wires, and I need to relocate it. We thought about cutting the supports for it and double-side taping it on the side of the trunk behind the carpet. I just wondered what this box was exactly and if it would hurt to move it?

Re: Black box located in trunk..

it is the instrument panel relay box (at least thats what mine said on it somewhere). I relocated mine for the same reason to the same place and I havent had any problems with it. And if you dont have the "premium sound" stereo or the CD changer than that black rack isn't really needed and you wont have any issues with removing it.

Whatcha getin put in? I have two 12" subs in a bandpass box pushed by a 1300 watt sony amp. The whole damn rear deck vibrates since the ports fire right into it. And the box is all mirrored with blue neons in it. Its pretty tight.

I'll be running one 15" Audiobahn 1506T (Flame Q) rated at 1300rms powered by the HiFonics Brutus 1500watt. Sub fits on left side of box facing out the back of the trunk while the slot takes up most of the right side. We are taking out my spare tire and fitting in something to mount the amp and cap. onto. Dynamat will be put in fitting the whole trunk, including the trunk lid. I will run a 100amp heavy duty fuse to ensure that my car doesnt blow up. It'll be an alright system (I really don't want any flames about audiobahn, so everyone please keep them to yourself).
