wire to fuses?!

Usually when I wire something in my car it comes with fuses in the cords, and some dont. I have been told that i should wire it through my fuse box except i have no idea. Can anyone tell me how?

Re: wire to fuses?!

Not sure what you're trying to wire. But usually, if you're installing a set of aftermarket lights or an amplifier for your subwoofer, you should connect the wire directly to the battery. You don't want to create any additional load to the car's existing electrical system.

If your wiring up an amplifier, the power wire is WAY too big to try and run it through the fuse box. You don't need too anyway, there is already a fuse on it, or you can just buy a breaker and install next to battery. Any aftermarket lights/monitors/etc. I always run to the fuse panel. I also install a backup switch. You can buy a flip switch at Wal-Mart for like two bucks.
