quick question

I had my car broken into few months ago and the easiest take was my apexi vafc.. mounted on steering console. but i got a new 1 of course and i dont wanna mount it in a location that makes it so easy to be swiped! so i was curious to know how hard it is to take off the grey piece of trim on top of the dash.. that meets with the window.. i wanna install all my apexi systems there vafc-boost

Re: quick question

you mean that light grey vinyl piece? thats part of the dash, you have to remove the whole dash to get it. and even then, its glued to the lower dash part with some serious glue

Re: quick question

You have to remember also... criminals don't really care about breaking stuff in order to get what they want.

My truck was broken into 2 times for the stereo. 1st was a cheap sony hung by factory mounting, they got it out pretty easy. 2nd was a 300 dollar reciever. I bolted that bitch in with metal straps etc. Well they ended up f'in up my whole dash getting it out. Unlike the 1st time when the stereo popped out easy and they just left.

Re: quick question

put it in the glove compartment when you get out or custom mount it to your visor

Hey guys thanks for the replies. sun visor.. thats a idea. i pretty much got the whole interior gutted out including the glove box but i could always reinstall it. i wanna find a way to mount these guages and be able to take them out and install them in seconds on a daily basis. I got another question tho how long does it take to take the dash off? after reading the right way of painting interior parts from incucivic's post on interior painting.. i wanna paint that grey trim piece i mentioned about b4. thanks again

Re: quick question

theres a bolt on each side of the dash, if you take off the vents that are in the area between the door and the dash. theres also a bolt in the top center of the dash, under that small rectangular plate. then if you take off the center console, theres a bolt in the center that bolts to the floor.

there might be one or two im forgetting, its been a long time since ive taken an EF dash out. but thats enough to get you started so you can wiggle the dash and find more bolts if they have any

Re: quick question

no problem.

i just looked at my coworkers EF, and theres a few more bolts for the dash. if you take off the panel under the steering column, theres a bolt there, on the far left. theres also ones by the glove box, so take the glove box off too. then theres some under the gauge cluster as well.

also, when you take the center console off, unbolt the climate control, but dont unplug anything from it. then when you are taking the dash out, rotate the control and let it slip out of the dash. this is a lot easier than taking all the cables and wires off the back

just use velcro mount it on top of the dash in the middle, and when you leave the car just put it in the glove box, i did that with mine and it was awesome haha
