selling my car dont know what to buy
im looking at alot of cars im am a big fan of honda well most imports but i cant help the way i am in love with the way the Cougars looks so can you tell me some things about i cant find a hole lot out there about them

The latest gen cougar has quite a bit of aftermarket for it. Its shares a lot in common with the ford contour as well as the svt contour, both of which share the same car platform and the 2.5L engine. A turbo kit, supercharger kit, engine swap, cams, intakes, exhaust systems, etc, etc are all available for it as well as like a billion bodykits. I would highly recommending a 5 speed and staying away from the automatic. The 5 speed is going to be a lot less maintenence and trouble free.
Things to look out for with the 2.5L are waterpump failure and spun rod bearings. The waterpumps usually fails around 70K and its best to upgrade to the metal impellar as opposed to the stock plastic impellar that shatters. Things I would recommend to help prevent spun rod bearings is adding 6 qts of oil instead of the 5.5 recommended qts. Bearings have been known to spin on long fast sweeping right hand turns as well due to oil starvation. People that due spin a bearing usually just upgrade to the larger 3.0L engine which is pretty much a direct swap. Any other questions you have let me know.

is the 2.5 in the Cougar the same as the gt probes and tell me a bit about this motor swap 3.0l
