New To The Aurora

I am thinking about buyinga 2001 Aurora 4.0...Should I do it? What should I look for when looking at the cars engine and driving? it has 60,000 miles on it.

Re: New To The Aurora

IMHO the 2001-2003 Auroras are very good cars, my 2002 has about 60000 miles and I believe with proper maintenance it will go for a long time.
Looking at this forum I see a lot of problems but all cars (forums) have problems.
Have the car checked by a very good shop and you shoukd be OK but have all problems fixed before putting down any cash.

Re: New To The Aurora

my '99 aurora been good, i got almost 96k on it and it's going smooth no major problems...just the regular stuff (radiator cracked @ 70,000 mi and water pump at 90k mi. ) but if you take care of the car it should last for a long time.

the electrical work with this car is harder then usual(installing remote start alarm) bust still not too bad. best car i ever owned.

I purchased my 97 Aurora just over 2 years ago with 55,000 miles on her. Ive loved the way the Aurora looked since it first came out in 94 as a early 95 modle. If I had known about this website BEFORE i purchased my car and known about all the problems people lhave with them I wouldnt have bought it. My car now has less them 70,000 miles on it and I have replaced the steering rack-$1200, its in the shop now for the AC-$???, and my computer was putting my car into 2nd gear and leaving it there. I had great luck with that one but after a month and lots of failed attempts the dealer finally correctly repaired the tranny and I got away free with that one, its a long story. If I could do it all over agian I would have purchased the 98 Nissan Maxima SE that was $2500 more. I do like my car but it leaves alot to be desired in the reliability department.

BTW, I have noticed that my 2002 is very picky. It's engine is not very forgiving. But, as long as it's maintained properly it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: New To The Aurora

'97 with 194,000 miles

I've had to do many of the typicals like:
AC comp
Radiator
Fuel pump
Front wheel bearings
Driver's side tranny mount

but no other majors and it's been awsome for the past 50k

Re: New To The Aurora

no perm damage - DIC said "Engine Hot Reduce Speed" and then as I glanced to the temp gauge "Engine Hot Stop Engine" so I turned the key to off and coasted to the side - never got into the red.
