Settings for Power Locks

Hi Folks,

I have a very silly question, and I apologize for that fact....

We had some work done on our 1997 Aurora (replacing the light switch relay or some such...) and a setting has changed, I assume due to the battery being removed.

I should back up and note that our remote keyless entry things haven't worked for several years (and as much as my wife complains, I'm not spending $150 to have the pair of them replaced...).

Therefore, we just lock and unlock the doors the old-fashioned way--hit the power door lock button when we get out of the car, and use a key to unlock the door. Simple enough, right?

Well, for some reason now, if I go to lock all the doors, I hit the power lock button on the drivers door to lock all four doors. Instead of doing that (like it used to for the past several years) it chimes at me instead. If I hit it a second time it locks the OTHER three doors (and chimes) but then I have to lock the driver's door manually.

This isn't a big deal, but it is starting to bug me because I've read the manual assuming that it is a setting I can change, but I can't seem to change it. (On thing in the manual set to press the door lock button twice in two seconds to shut off the "prevent lock out" feature, but that doesn't do anything but make the car chime, etc.).

Has anyone had this experience? Thanks in advance for any help.

G.--
