Check your Tire Pressure!

Hey all, I just checked my cold tire pressure and it was near 40 psi! Now that it's warmer outside (90+F in Orlando) the air pressure in your tires could be too high and cause poor wearing. I was hearing road noise, and reducing the pressure fixed it.

I've seen a few posts on s10 forums regarding road noise and I thought I'd throw this out there!

Good reminder - especially for the time of the year. It suddenly hit 90 here in Upstate NY. I went with nitrogen from the tire shop ( Dunn Tire ) in January and havn't had the need to adjust pressure yet!!! And, because Nitrogen runs cooler it's supposed to decrease tire wear too. Something to think about...

This just strikes me as being gimmick-like, really...

The atmosphere we breathe every day is 80% nitrogen. Does that scant 20% "extra" really do anything?

According to their propaganda- there is no mositure so there's less chance of the tire rotting from the inside(not sure if this is a real problem- I've never seen it), larger molocules are less likely to seep out, less expansion/contraction so there is less fluctuation in pressure and they supposedly run cooler and we all know that heat is what wears tires down. Oh, and I've got really cool green rings on my valve stem!

All I know is I haven't had to adjust my tire pressure in the six months I've had it. As for any increase in mileage - I don't have anything to compare it to. I put the new tire w/nitro on shortly after buying the truck. I average 22mpg highway.

Re: Check your Tire Pressure!

Nitrogen filling is an unneeded waste of money.

I am to with nitro and I agree because I need to adjust only each six month and I have a pressure contol cap on each tire.
Last contol was giving a loss of 100 gr in about 5 months.
