4.3 engine miss ??
What do you think I should check first?
4.3 s-10 Automatic I am experiencing an intermittant miss for the first 5-6 miles after cold start when accelerating from a stop. It just feels like little shudders when taking off from a light and the engine is under load. I replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor about 25,000 miles ago. Does this sound like moisture in cap/rotor? It only seems to happen first thing in the morning when humidity has condensed and everything is kinda damp. Any ideas what I should try? |

Re: Re: 4.3 engine miss ??
Replace your plug wires and buy the GOOD ones. I have had bought the cheap plug wires and had them fail anywhere from 2000 miles to being bad right out of the box. If they have 25,000 miles still replce them.

Re: 4.3 engine miss ??
first thing would be a good yune up, dont forget the filters(fueland air). what year is it? tune up is cheap and easy and never hurts to do it. if it doesnt solve the problem youre only out a few bucks.

What year is your s10? If it has a distributor, it might be the ignition module that is on the distributor under the cap. Did you replace the spark plug wires with the cheapest ones you could find? (we all have done this at one point in time) I and many other people have found the the cheaper ones are not very good, they allow the arc to short to the engine before it gets to the spark plugs. Dis connect your hood light and run your truck at night to see if they are arcing.
