steering wheel..
first off you'll need some tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches, and most of all, TORX wrenches (6 point star shaped tips)...
REMOVE one of the battery post terminals - DISCONNECT THE BATTERY... you don't want to mess with airbags while the battery is connected...
Now on the steering wheel, remove the plastic cover on the left side, the plastic cover on the bottom, and the cruise control switch on the right of the steering wheel... you can unplug the wires now or after you partially pull the airbag out.... there are 2 TORX screws, one on each side of the airbag which should now be easily accessible... remove these 2 screws and SLOWLY pull the airbag out of the wheel.... you can unplug the airbag now if you haven't done so already... the steering wheel is bolted down with just one big nut in the center, so lock the wheel in place and undo the nut... hit/tap the wheel on the edges to loosen it up and pull it out SLOWLY, careful not to rip out wires that are hanging...
For your new steering wheel to attach and work on any car you need an adapter, what they call a HUB, which bolts on to the steering column with that big nut you just took off.
To install your new steering wheel and HUB you'll probably have to remove the 2 plastic covers behind the steering wheel, the top and bottom covers. There are about 5-6 screws you need to remove from the bottom using a phillips head screwdriver. You may also have to remove the CLOCK SPRING, that is the SRS module that lets your wheel rotate left and right without ripping the wires that go to the driver airbag. Since you are replacing everything you won't need that clock spring there anyways, so undo the 2-3 screws and unplug it from the wiring harness.
First bolt on the HUB to the steering column. After you do this also make sure HOW and IF the 2 plastic covers - TOP and BOTTOM - fit with this new hub; you may need to shave the lip of the covers a bit so it doesn't rub the hub and make noise. Attach the new wheel to the hub and you should be done. IF you wanna make your horn work, do this before you attach the wheel. And to make the horn work the procedure would be different depending on your wheel. But it's really simple, there is a ground wire which is interrupted until you press the button, so it's just a matter of attaching the wire to the right spot.
No your cruise control can't be used anymore.
And your SRS light on the dash will light up. If that bothers you, you can easily remove the plastic bezel from around the speedo cluster/gauges, then remove the speedo cluster and remove the bulb.
