oil pan gasket?

Hello. I got an oil change fro my 00 about 1 week ago. The other day, i noticed that oil was leaking from what appeared to be the oil pan screw. I took it back to the place where I got my oil change, and they said that the leak is most likely from the oil pan gasket. How much is an oil pan gasket? and is there really any way I can find out?

Re: oil pan gasket?

I've never heard of the oil pan gasket leaking. If it looks like it's leaking from the bolt, it probably is. I'd check to make sure it's still got the ring/washer/whatever it is around the bottom of the bolt that acts as a sort of gasket. Also, do NOT overtighten those things or they will leak, same story as the oil filter.

Next time, don't take it anywhere to get your oil changed, those places are full of shit, overpriced, and sometimes don't replace the filter. Avoid them.

Your right. My friends, who does oil changes at another location, determined it was the oil pan bolt. Looks like iam going to speak to the manager at Walmart tomorrow.
