vtec's FINALLY hooked up (temporarirly ghetto rigged), one last question though

ok so i figured its been over a year that ive had my z6 in with NO vtec, i have never felt what vtec was like, ans still havent, hopefully in about 20 minutes though. my question is, i used a toggle switch (for now) trust me this is NOT gonna be forever. i want to test it out. bad. really bad. if i just use it once in a while, it wont hurt will it? and, how should i operate it, what gear, and what rpm? once i get to a certain rpm, and shift, do i jst leave it on until im done racing, or turn it off until the next gear, then turn it back on at teh desired rpm....sounds lieka pain in teh ass if its done liek that, or would i just leave it on till im done racing? please help soon, its about to rain here and a wanna take her out for a spin before it rains.

I'm hoping you're not white and saying that, or you should be shot on the spot.

That's part of the reason I made my comment. But I'll keep further comments to myself until/if I see what's true.

what? 944s don't weigh much more than 4th gens...

Anyway, you should've gotten an rpm activated switch at least, but just turn it on at 5k like they said and leave it on until your done.

I don't know what the deal is with sohc vtec anyway. Is it really that much more power in vtec? I have a cam in my a6 and my engine revs out from a smooth 1200 rpm to 7200 rpm but I don't make power really until 4-5k rpms, when I hit 5k rpms I'm pulling slower to redline in the higher gears anyway. With the Si tranny I can redline the lower gears pretty quick. I guess vtec is about the same thing...

ok, now i have a friend that wants to race me in a 97 eclipse non turbo. all he has done to it is a muffler, no custom piping. i should be able to take that one home, i think those only have 140 hp, plus theyre are heavier than crx's. with the vtec, i/h/e, i should be pushing close to 140, im guessing. who do u guys take on this one? btw, this will probably take place a week from today
