2004 2.2L ecotec upgrades

hey guys I'm new here and I just bought a 04 cavy with a 2.2l ecotec engine. I managed to get it up to 110 before it started bogging on me. I love the car it just seems to lose acceleration after 3rd gear. Anyways I was wondering what are some of the best/most affordable parts to install in the car to upgrade it the most, basically best bang for my buck.
I would really appreciate if some of you could lead me in the right direction. Thanks

Speed costs money. There's no such thing as cheap speed. The more you spend, the faster you go.

And you're lucky I don't know you, because I'd kick your ass for trying to go above 108 in a cavalier unless you're at a track. Do you have any idea what a speed limiter is?

You shouldn't be allowed to drive, buddy.

Re: 2004 2.2L ecotec upgrades

coma calm down dude..im pretty sure EVERYONE thats bought a car has tested it out off track...unless this guy makes a habit of it i dont see a problem..might as well see what your paying for right ?...but as for you drift..you can spend all the money you want for speed but unless you get rid of the limiter your not gonna go any faster then what your limited too..if your going to take it to the track to race (i suggest you do that if you want to drive faster then 110 unless you want to be beat down for street racing) i would suggest buying and replacing the ECU to a performance one that doesnt restrict you but does the opposite...but if you just want quick acceleration..look into things like Warm Air Intake if you want a little for cheap , or Cold Air Intake for a better increase for a little more dollar...headers...Cat back exhaust is a good buy for that too..if you want to spend MORE dollar look into some major internal work..pistons..cam..crank ..etc..and just a reminder...dont fuckin street race or drive like an idiot

Good, test it on the track. Even then you won't be going above 108 w/o some pretty decent mods to the car. You'll be trapping around 90, that's it.

BTW - 01 Cavy, CAI being a lot better than WAI is a myth. Go find yourself some dyno sheets and you'll see what I mean. The slightly cooler air isn't that much of a difference and considering it has to go through usually double the number of bends when it's CAI, there's almost no diffference and sometimes there's even a loss.

ya dude..im not here to start an argument with you..i just go by what i see and hear...i can see how it wouldnt really be a difference...if you want a real performance upgrade when it comes to intake..cut a hole in the hood..buy a wai and put the cone filter thru the hole so it sits outside like a blower...THEN you'll get real cold air hahaha

Your car is not moving on a dynometer, it is stationary. Thus your comment isn't valid. Even if the shop blows a fan into the front of your car, its still nothing like driving on a road where the CAI is intended for its gains over the WAI. The gaines/losses b/w the 2 are small. But personally i like not having a cone filter chilling out in my engine bay and i did notice a little bit of more power in the higher RPM range.

Re: 2004 2.2L ecotec upgrades

bunch of cry babies in here about street racing. Street race if you want to, its fun and a great adrenaline rush. Just keep it safe if you do. Ive tested the top speed on my car pleanty of times.

One guy told you to get a performance ECU, just ignore him, he doesnt know what he is talking about. There arent any ECu upgrades for the OBDII cavaliers. Also dont get the car to bog down like that at 110MPH. The ECU is cutting the fuel to the engine, causing you to run very lean. You dont want to the engine running lean.

How much money u looking to spend on this cavy?
