open injector circuit
Hey guys, I noticed my car sounded odd, and so I rented a scan tool and got an error: "injector circuit open cylinder 4"
I've been doing some searching, but not finding much. Can anyone translate that and what a possible fix would be. I don't even know where exactly to look for an injector circuit. Thanks in advance. Edit: So after doing some more researching, I think that either the connection at the injector is bad or that a wire running to it may be grounding out. However I have no idea how to test which is the case, or even what wire to trace back to whereever. So any anything would help

Start at the injector..with a multimeter check the ohm's on it...if open there's the problem..
Next go to the plug and clean it and then check it... If you still have a problem get a wiring diagram and see if your wires are open or grounded. Think of the electric system as a water system. The electricity is the water. Anyplace it's flow is interupted is where you have a problem. Your possible problems could be, bad injector, open wire, bad connector or worse case, bad computer which I don't think as the other injectors are working ok. If you don't have a way to check the injector swap it with one you know is good and see what happens. If it's still bad then start from the connector at the injector and work yourway back. |

Re: open injector circuit
Thanks for the help...now I just need to get my hands on a multimeter

Re: open injector circuit
At this point I have the #2 and #4 injectors disconnected from their harnesses, but still in place. This is my first time using a multimeter, so bear with me if I'm a noob. The 2 injectors, both show '0' ohms of resistance...but I don't know if I'm supposed to test them hooked up to the harness or what. I'm told they should show between 2-3 ohms....so I dunno.
However, when I test the harnesses with the key in the 'ON' position. The #2(good) harness shows '0' volts, but the #4(bad?) shows '12' volts. Does this mean that somewhere between the ecu and the injector harness, that it is getting ground out accidentally? Electricitiy isn't my forte, I'm kinda lost as to what to do next, and would really appreciate some help.
