Car Got keyed

Well I walked out of the bar last evening to find a nice little surprise, my car (an 02 accent) got keyed from the drivers side door all the way back. The cop who looked at it said that the entire side of my car will need to be re-paintded, is this the norm? also how much do you think this would cost? I just went on my own insurance less then 6 months ago, and I am worried that my payments will go through the roof (i have GEICO) and was thinking that maybe i could pay for this out of pocket. Does anyone have experience with a GEICO? Also about how long will the whole proscess take? I do have rental coverage, but again I am afraid if I use it my rates will go through the room (i have 1 not at faut accident and 1 traffic violation). I can live with out a car for a week, buit anything more will get annoying
THANKS

Re: Car Got keyed

i have no experience w/that insurance company but yes your car will have to go to a body or paint shop, there is nothing you can do to the car yourself, and it a problem you do not want to leave be.
