98 ranger gas pedal sticks in up position
My gas pedal sticks in the up position, so when I step on the gas it does not go down smoothly. Is this a common problem? Or am I the only one having it?

Re: 98 ranger gas pedal sticks in up position
My grandfather had a older ranger and his started doing that, then eventually, it started to stick on! so when we would be driving down the road it wouldnt slow down. There is a way you can grease that pedal. I cant remember how, you might want to check into it. sorry i cant be any more help.

Re: 98 ranger gas pedal sticks in up position
Follow all the linkage and cable to the throttle body to see if there is any binding. You can disconnect it from throttle body to check if it is binding. If it is smooth when unkooked, look inside throttle bore while working linkage by hand to see if the throttle bore is gummed up. Good luck.

Re: 98 ranger gas pedal sticks in up position
i had that same problem in my 98...found out it was carbon buildup in the throttlebody...no matter how many times i had it cleaned it would start back after a couple hundred miles...ended up replacing the throttlebody.... solved my problem.

Re: 98 ranger gas pedal sticks in up position
make sure you use throttle body cleaner not carb cleaner!!! the carb cleaner will remove coating inside throttle body
