1989 Toyota Corolla Coupe/SR-5 Carburetor Rebuild?

I'm ordering a carburetor rebuild kit for my corolla. I'm thinking that I can do it myself since I've seen somebody else rebuild one before. The mechanic I brought the car to quoted over 200 dollars and two days to rebuild it. That seemed out of the question to me. I went 200 miles on a full tank this week and i know i can get a lot more from this car. also it is hard to throttle up without sputtering. So Im in desperate need to fix it on a budget. The instructions come with the kit but is there anything else i should know before doing this? can i get it done in a few hours? do i need to prepare in some way? Also are there schematics online to help just incase? thanks.
